The Savers Story

Savers markets a variety of individual products including Medicare plans, Tax-Deferred Annuities, Individual Major Medical, Final Expense plans, Whole & Term Life, Critical Illness coverage, and more.

Savers Life Insurance Company was formed in 1980 and issued its first annuity policy in January of 1981. Savers Life subsequently diversified its product offerings to include Medicare Supplement, Life Insurance, and Major Medical lines of insurance. Savers Management Group was formed in April of 1997. Savers Management subsequently merged into Standard Management Corporation of Indianapolis in March of 1998. After a five-year association with Standard Management Corporation, Savers Marketing was purchased by an employee investment group in July of 2003. In April 2019, Savers Marketing partnered with Integrity to further enhance the available product portfolio and customer service for its agents. In March 2020, we made a strategic decision to merge many of our operational functions and office space with another Winston-Salem-based Integrity partner: Pinnacle Benefits Group. This partnership has allowed Savers and Pinnacle to provide their respective agents with a broader range of products and a greater level of agent support.

Savers Health is part of Savers Management Corp but is a separate entity that focuses on Direct to Consumer (DTC) sales. We also use Savers Health in our referral program with agents and refer to it in Succession Planning as it is the group that would purchase a retiring agent’s block of business. We try to highlight Savers Health as a resource for agents rather than an entity that may be in competition with them so those are the only two places that we refer to it. It has it’s own separate branding and website.
